throw rocks at me
i'll build a garden wall
glare at me, I'll smile back
tease me and I will
take it as attention
at least i am noticed then
notice my strength,
I will see yours
i travel with ease,
with complements,
with a smile too share
this journey is too
short and too long
to travel with a glare

color and wonder haiku poem
earth’s colors course
from place to place following the
current of our thoughts
color your world
with high swings and curvy slides
visions of wonder
allow the beauty
breathe in the laughter
catch the soft rainfall
gentle on your hands
it glides along your fingers
to cleanse your spirit
be your beautiful self
with actions of grace, love
designing magic

avenger of light
when all of the days
become the last day
it is night
the light exposes
the night refrains
the darkness looms
an avenger
to disguise the day's worries
with stars
moonlight
a swing on the old, solid,
wide-plank porch
overlooking the glow
from the stream
of the moon's reflection
of what was once the day
and now is the last day
that worry is heard
because night
the avenger
has allowed us
to remember
night is magic
summer is love
the dark is really
an avenger of light
become the last day
it is night
the light exposes
the night refrains
the darkness looms
an avenger
to disguise the day's worries
with stars
moonlight
a swing on the old, solid,
wide-plank porch
overlooking the glow
from the stream
of the moon's reflection
of what was once the day
and now is the last day
that worry is heard
because night
the avenger
has allowed us
to remember
night is magic
summer is love
the dark is really
an avenger of light

surrender
delicately thin
her worn sweatshirt, rugged with sweat
joins the sun's remnants
in keeping her warm
as the moonlight
fades in -
the gleeful summer day
has become the anticipation
of a summer night
he waits by
the moonlit bay
for sunrise
to lift this
gnawing mystery
her worn sweatshirt, rugged with sweat
joins the sun's remnants
in keeping her warm
as the moonlight
fades in -
the gleeful summer day
has become the anticipation
of a summer night
he waits by
the moonlit bay
for sunrise
to lift this
gnawing mystery
sky

update
I haven't posted in a super long time. Most of my recent writing has been haiku, and I have been posting those poems separately on my Wordpress page.
I have a book of haiku that should be released very soon! I will have more updates within the next couple weeks!
Thank you for reading this - Laurie

i keep asking why
how it began
this world:
dust
or magic
or religion
or a chemical reaction
that became life
this life
when it begins
is magic
this life
as it unfolds
is magic
this chair
these fingers
all of this
this thing in my mind
this brain that makes me think
all of this
abruptly begins and ends
and each end a new beginning
and so the loop of life
and so the paradox
life and death, light and dark
all of this
is magic
