My pet fishtank by Laurie Molloy

Swimming men
in my fishtank
amusing for me,
I put them next
to my piggy bank,
saved them up-
carefully counted
so I knew they
were there,
and how many.

Left them where
everyone could see
little men splashing around
that I would not set free.

The Only One by Laurie Molloy

She dreamed him wandering among lilies,
hopping like a small prince discovering
princesses giggling with dreamy eyes,
lost in love’s vast forest meandering.

Immaculate in his every movement,
purposeful with pure and pleasant intent,
with swiftness to the next flower he went,
and on and on until he landed bent

down on one knee for only her to see,
and then he gazed with his eyes uplifted
ready to speak with sparkling glee,
shadowing her body as she drifted

closer until she was in his arms agreed
to be the only one she’d ever need.

Untitled by Laurie Molloy

I speak to you
forever in code
that I hope
you'll expound-
you know them all
the contents of my mind.
You'll act on my wishes
unspoken,
somehow know my next moves
not yet taken and
mystically lift me above
all things ethereal-
allowing me to rule
your world
through mind control.

"Silence says it all" by Laurie Molloy

Silence says it all
eyes peacefully peering into
eyes on the other side of a room
or the eyes across or beside them-
deciphering the depth
of eyes meeting eyes-
touching fingertips lightly,
gently brushing one arm,
glancing away and then catching
the all knowing return glimpse.
The truth of movement
takes command over speech-
the purity and unconsciousness of action
rules the world of precise expression.
Words are rehearsed, made-up, made to sound
like something you want to hear.
An embrace, gentle knudge, or quiet look
happens freely, an impulse without a plan-
silence says it all.
