Poem for the Paradox Poet
Oscar Wilde wrote, "I can resist anything but temptation."
i am tempted to restrain myself
and tempted to dive in
to this luscious life
i swim on dry land, and do not expect
to be bitten, but I need the bite to remind me
I am alive, I am mortal
except sometimes I am invincible
like on those days that I wake up
and the coffee has already been made
perfectly
the traffic is clear, I arrive early
the computers do not work
and so work is closed and
we're all like, "snow day!"
on those days I forget destiny,
and become life
