untimely

it is like when the fire alarm
goes off and you are dripping
cool water and it
is 20 degrees out
and frost forms at the tip
of your dangling tangled hair
paralyzed in your robe
you stand there

it is never a good time
or the right time
for a wreck
but you still go on
and on and on
and it's like
what the heck?

and you in your robe
stand outside
with nothing
more left to hide
until you go
to turn to your neighbor
and the belt on your
robe is ripped away
by a falling branch
and you're like
what the heck!

and so the untimely
events in our life
perhaps are timely
when we closely check
